Certificate Course in Diabetes

BMJ, Fortis C-DOC, New Delhi and Royal Collage of Physicians, London are pleased to announce a new Course in Diabetes, which will help physicians improve their theoretical and practical resources to manage diabetes in an effective manner.

e-learning with hands on training

Six months e-learning through Learning Management System for which participants will be given a unique log-in ID and password to access 48 modules covered in six units. On successful completion of e-learning modules participants need to come for a four days hands on training program followed by an examination at Fortis C-DOC hospital, New Delhi under the supervision of Dr. Prof Anoop Misra and team.

Only Online

At the end of this course the candidate will be able to:

  • Understand the use of oral anti diabetic drugs, insulin and other management options for diabetes
  • This is an online certificate course of six months duration. In case candidate is not able to complete the course as per schedule, the extension of the course duration will be on BMJ discretion. For AHP it will be three months.

It is a six month online modular course with six modular units and 1 contact program during the tenure of the course, The contact program will be held at Fortis C-DOC , Nehru Place, New Delhi.

  • Six online self learning units
  • Clinical rotation across all diabetes speciality (eg foot care, ICU, etc)
  • Clinical evaluation by examiners at the end of contact Program

MBBS graduates or post graduates in any speciality registered with Medical Council of India(MCI) or any of the state medical councils for six month certification course in Diabetes.

For three month Diabetic educator course for Nurses, Pharmacist, Dietician, Nutritionist and all other healthcare professionals who come across with Diabetic patients

It is not yet affiliated or recognised by MCI or any other medical body. The successful candidates will be jointly awarded a certificate by BMJ, Fortis C-DOC and The Royal College of Physicians.

This involves class-room teaching and hands-on training on the various aspects of diabetes. This program will be conducted four times a year in batches of 8-10 student doctors per program. The sessions will be from 9 am to 6 pm and all practical aspects of diabetes will be covered. The candidate will get extensive exposure to various specialised clinics (obesity and weight loss, male hormonal clinic) OPD patients , case work-up, ophthalmology clinic for fundus examination , foot care clinic , diet clinic.

To be awarded the Certificate in Diabetes the candidate must complete all of the following within 6 months of starting the programme:

  • Attend the hands on training/clinical observership course at Fortis C-DOC and behave in an acceptable and professional manner as assessed by the supervising chief of staff
  • Be judged by the examiners on a clinical evaluation day at Fortis C-DOC to meet (at least) the following statement "This is a doctor with a basic understanding of diabetes care who we would expect to practice professionally and within their capabilities in their particular area of clinical responsibility."
